Coaching Skills for Retail Managers
Crisis
Client: Crisis, the national charity for homeless people
Audience: Retail managers
Format: In-person coaching skills workshop at the Crisis retail warehouse
Date: September 2026
Facilitators: Susie Edwards, with Melissa Bridge
The Context
Crisis’s retail managers were heading into their busiest season. The warehouse was already full of stock for the run-up to Christmas, and managers were juggling volume, volunteers and teams under growing pressure.
In that environment, the quality of everyday conversations matters. Managers who can coach rather than simply direct help their people think, take ownership and stay motivated when things get hectic.
What I Delivered
Melissa Bridge and I ran a practical, interactive session on coaching skills, held on site so it sat right alongside the managers’ real work.
The session drew on my curiosity-led approach, helping managers ask better questions, listen more fully and support their teams to find their own answers.
The Impact
The group engaged warmly and generously throughout, creating a supportive space to practise new skills together, and managers left with practical tools to use with their teams straight away.
